According to research from Preqin, private equity-backed deal flow in Q2 2012 increased 37 per cent and exit value surged 65 per cent from Q1 2012. Given that deal numbers have remained virtually unchanged from the previous quarter, the increase in value of buyout and exit deals in Q2 2012 indicates a rise in large-cap activity.

While the aggregate capital raised by private equity funds reaching a final close in Q2 2012 was similar to the Q1 total, the number of funds that have reached an interim close increased in Q2 from the previous quarter, according to research by Preqin.
