The week’s largest announced deal was Johnson & Johnson’s takeover of Synthes, a Swiss medical technology developer, which is valued at around USD 21,300 million. Meanwhile, the highest value rumour – Russian steel giant Severstal’s potential purchase of Luxembourg-registered Evraz – is priced at USD 7,790 million.

The board of Foster’s has approved a USD 11,220 million takeover proposal from SABMiller in the week’s largest deal, while the highest value rumour was Reliance Industries’ potential purchase of Valero Energy. Medicare plan insurer HealthSpring and MOSAID Technologies, a semiconductor intellectual property licensing company, were among other targets.
