Polish telecommunications company Polkomtel was the target of the week’s largest M&A deal, while the number two transaction involved the sale of a stake in Chilean copper miner Anglo American Sur. Other significant targets included Hungarian automotive parts manufacturer Raba Jarmuipari Holding and Petrogal Brasil.

In the week’s top deal, Anglo American agreed to increase its stake in diamond miner De Beers by 40 per cent for USD 5,100 million. Other targets included insurer Transatlantic, Canadian Pacific Railway and wound care therapy developer Kinetic Concepts.

The board of Foster’s has approved a USD 11,220 million takeover proposal from SABMiller in the week’s largest deal, while the highest value rumour was Reliance Industries’ potential purchase of Valero Energy. Medicare plan insurer HealthSpring and MOSAID Technologies, a semiconductor intellectual property licensing company, were among other targets.

The week’s largest deal was G4S’ USD 8,229 million acquisition of Danish facilities group ISS. Other targets include Texan oil and gas concern Brigham Exploration Company, Rio Tinto’s aluminium units and Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, a Californian developer of customer communications management software.

Microsoft completed its USD 8,500 million acquisition of Luxembourg-based voice and video call software specialist Skype in the week’s top deal by value. Mexican telecommunications group Telmex and US oil and gas business Samson were among other high-value targets.
