Private Equity from the Down Under perspective

I have the pleasure of being in Sydney this week, meeting the deal makers and private equity community of Sydney and wider Australia. Part of my trip has included attending the 11th Annual Australia & New Zealand Private Equity & Venture Forum, which has provided a fascinating insight into the issues currently facing private equity investors within the region. Common issues are clearly running through the private equity communities around the world, plenty of "dry powder", increasingly competitive situations for the best assets and the continual search for really good portfolio companies. These would appear to be the messages coming out of the "boardie" wearing deal makers and mirrors the sentiments of their US and European counterparts. But I am guessing it is much easier to find perspective with these issues when you have the Sydney sunshine, Bondi Beach and a cold tinnie!
