Having checked Zephyr I could find no record of any hostile takeovers of Spanish companies by the Dutch, in fact Dutch acquisitions of Spanish companies have only accounted for US $7.3 billion of acquisitions since 2000 and they are not consistently in the Top 5 League Tables of acquirors of Spanish companies.
Conversely Spanish acquirors have accounted for just over US $12.3 of deals involving Dutch companies and as in the 2010 World Cup Spain appears to have been actively increasing its deal activity in the Netherlands, so not only replacing the Dutch with their own “total football” but “total deal making” as well.
So the question is, will the CEOs of Spanish corporates continue to target Dutch companies mirroring the success experienced on the football field by the Spanish national side?
